Orange Chicken




ORANGE CHICKEN

Ingredients for........

ORANGE SAUCE
  • 3 t. soy sauce 
  • 3 t. water 
  • 10 t. white vinegar 
  • 6 t. sugar 
  • 1 t. orange zest 
Mix all ingredients together in a separate bowl,and reserve to use with the preparation of the chicken

CHICKEN

  • 2 lbs. boneless chicken chopped into bite-size pieces 
  • 1 egg 
  • 1 tsp.  soy sauce 
  • 3/4 tsp. salt 
  • pinch of white pepper 
  • 1/2 c.=1 t. cornstarch 
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 t. ginger-root , minced 
  • 1 tsp. garlic ,minced 
  • 1/2 tsp. crushed red hot chilli pepper 
  • 1/4 c. green onions . chopped 
  • 1 t. rice vinegar 
  • 1/4 c. water 
  •  1/2 tsp. oil   
In a bowl, stir in egg ,salt, white pepper, 1 t. oil. To add the chicken pieces and mix well. In another bowl , stir in 1/2 c. cornstarch and flour together . Coat chicken pieces with this mixture . Heat oil in a wok .Heat the wok and add 1 t. oil. Add ginger and garlic and stir fry for 1 to 2 . Add and stir fry crushed chillies and green onions . Add rice and vinegar and stir a couple of a seconds. Add orange sauce and bring to boil . Add the fried chicken , stirring until well mixed . Mix the 1 t. cornstarch and water until smooth , and add this to the chicken. Heat until the sauce is thickened . Add the orange zest . Turn off the heat and serve!
